THE EYES HAVE IT

On May 27th, the Real Tuesday Weld will be performing their alternative score to the Hans Richter's wonderfully strange 1946 Jungian surrealist drama in the awesomely august surroundings of the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern in London. If you wish you can buy tickets here:

I will be there, I don't know about you.....

And, I do believe they have gone and recorded the said score for the British Film Institute for the first ever DVD release of the film in July.

Well, if I don't see you there, on the right is a new podcast: 'A NIGHTINGALE SANG IN THE WASTELAND" for you - a little taster of the past and something from the future featuring the remarkable and eccentric English Alchemist David Piper....

Al Bowlly didn't make actual albums - just thousands of 78s - 'singles' - I suppose you would call them, so it's a case of picking a compilation - of which there are now many. I like 'Just a Bowl of Cherries' myself because it's got a few classics and quite a wide range of stuff - or 'They called me Al' on Decca which is rarer things. But really i'm sure any would be a good start - he did some very cheesy stuff of course but it's the mysterious quality of voice that I really love

What a nice podcast. Wonderful listening in this grey, rainy morning. Looking forward to the DVD, something for us "bloody foreigners", too...=)

I did not actually notice that there was something wrong with the first one...maybe I was still asleep. Should not say/write/listen anything before midday...:x

I don't have to be the first to congratulate you on the Tate perf, but please accept my felicitations. My sis was crying during the music for the whirly circles and she's a westie. So there, both sides of London and tomorrow the world. Real art with real heart.

hey thankyou - I've got to say it was of the most enjoyable things we've done - and it was truly a pleasure to be in that amazing space - I really appreciated it..

next time nell - we are hoping to bring the show to the states if there is enough interest from a suitable gallery

Yay, another great performance. I had a better idea of what was happening compared to the first time at the National Film Theatre- although at least that time had comfy seats, ahhh. & dancing lips people. Think I preferred you singing Dreaming Of You, but that's just my personal TRTW-loving preferences I think.
Managed to go back to the Tate the next day (yesterday) and buy the 3" soundtrack cd sample, and listening to it currently. Very brilliant it is too.
I had to go. And so I did.
